With this set of 7 DVDs you can learn to speak the Native American language of the Passamaquoddy-Maliseet. The 7 DVD set of 25 edited natural conversations in Passamaquoddy-Maliseet was recorded between 2006 and 2008 in Maine and New Brunswick. They evoke the knowledge and values of Passamaquoddy-Maliseet community life. These exchanges range from humorous storytelling, oral history, and personal reminiscence to conversations about everyday experiences, past and present. The DVDs represent an innovative approach combining descriptive linguistics, documentary video, and community outreach to organize speaker groups to use heritage language in traditional and contemporary activities while recording it for language learning, dictionary development, research, cultural transmission, and revival.
